ABOUT ME

Hi, I’m Suzanne, a Commonwealth Civil Celebrant conducting weddings and funerals since 2017.

It was the death of my mum that deepened my understanding of the importance of a compassionate celebrant for grieving families.

As a funeral celebrant, I create unique, meaningful services tailored to each family's values and beliefs.

Family, whether related or not, is central to my life. Memories of loved ones remind us of what truly matters and bind us together.

Recognising the complexity of relationships, I ensure each ceremony honours the essence of the person being commemorated.

MY BACKGROUND

With over 35 years in education and extensive public speaking experience, I’ve taught, travelled, and volunteered at Lifeline and local refugee centres. I’ve worked in communications, publishing, and media, retiring as Deakin University’s Editor in 2021.

My diverse experiences enable me to handle a variety of scenarios, including:

  • Deaths from addiction

  • Estranged family members

  • Deaths after a full, loving life

  • Loss of beloved pets

  • Accidental deaths

  • Deaths by chronic illness

  • Unexpected deaths

  • Newborn or stillbirths

Helping families navigate their emotional and difficult times is both a privilege and an honour for me.

  • "‘Showed great cultural sensitivity"

  • "Wasn't judgemental and managed the family dynamics really well""

  • "Warm and helped us remember memories we had forgotten"

  • "Captured our daughter beautifully"
